Alexandre Lopes, a Pre-Kindergarten instructor in Miami-Dade County, has been named Florida’s 2013 Teacher of the Year. Mr. Lopes will be traveling throughout the state discussing education and his methods of teaching.
Attorney General Pam Bondi appointed Allen Winsor to serve as solicitor general. In his new position he will be the state’s lead attorney for appellate cases.
Sergio Alvarez has been appointed by Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam to be the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ chief economist.
Sharon Binnun, the chief financial officer of the Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, resigned her position effective July 5th.
