Tom Lee Senator Tom Lee (R-Brandon) has announced he will resign his senate seat, effective November 3rd. Lee was elected to the Florida Senate in 1996, serving as President from 2004 to 2006. He ran unsuccessfully for Florida’s chief financial officer in 2006. Lee was elected again to the Florida Senate in 2012 and served as chair of the Senate Infrastructure and Security Committee and on the Appropriations Committee.

John MacIver John MacIver was selected as general counsel for Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis. He previously served as chief judge of the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings.

Gail Morgan Gail Morgan, film commissioner for the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Film Commission, was named president of Film Florida.

Chris Nocco The United States Department of Homeland Security appointed Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco to serve on its advisory council.

Ava Parker Ava Parker, president of Palm Beach State College, has been elected to the board of directors of the American Association of Community Colleges.

Pulitzer Prize Board Aminda Marqués González, executive editor, president and publisher of the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald, has been appointed co-chair of the Pulitzer Prize Board. She will co-chair the board with Stephen Engelberg, editor-in-chief of ProPublica.

Marco Rubio U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was appointed the acting chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, after former chair Congressman Richard Burr (R-NC) stepped down.
