PALM BEACH STATE COLLEGE PRESIDENT Ava Parker has been named president of Palm Beach State College by the college’s trustees and will start her tenure on July 1st. Parker currently serves as executive vice president and COO of Florida Polytechnic University. Parker served for more than a decade on the Board of Governors before moving to Florida Polytechnic in 2012.

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI PRESIDENT The University of Miami Board of Trustees named Dr. Julio Frenk as their new president, replacing outgoing president Donna Shalala.  Frenk served as the Dean of Harvard School of Public Health since 2009 where he helped secure a record breaking $350 million gift to the school. He previously served as the Minister of Health in Mexico and will become the university’s first Hispanic president. He will be the university’s sixth president when he takes over on September 1st.

PENSACOLA STATE COLLEGE DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES Patrick Dawson, general manager of G4S Secure Solutions and Kevin Lacz, physician assistant for Regenesis LLC, have been appointed to the Board by Governor Scott.

UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA HEALTH  Ed Jimenez has been named chief executive officer of the UF Health Shands Hospital system after serving as interim CEO for 10 months.

JOHNS RIVER WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT Ronald Howse, Real Deal Development Group, Cocoa, has been appointed to the District by Governor Scott.

NORTHWEST FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT Three have been appointed to the NW Florida Water Management District by Governor Scott: John Alter, manager with Alter Bevis Farms, Malone;  Angus “Gus” Andrews,  owner of Andrews Companies, Andrews & Arnsdoff Realty and Southern Beach Management, DeFuniak Springs; and  Nicholas “Nick” Patronis, owner of Captain Anderson’s, Panama City Beach.
