Department of Juvenile Justice Appointed Chief of Staff by Secretary Christina Daly was Heather DiGiacomo. She previously worked as the executive director of the Florida Juvenile Justice Association and as the assistant to the executive director at the Florida Association of Counties.
Dwayne Taylor The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected an appeal by former state Representative Dwayne Taylor (D-Daytona Beach) who was convicted last year on wire-fraud charges. Taylor was sentenced to 13 months in prison after being convicted on nine counts of wire fraud related to the personal use of campaign funds.
Florida Supreme Court Justice Charles Canady has been selected by his colleagues to serve as chief justice for the next two years. Canady, who was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2008 by then-Governor Charlie Crist, previously served as chief justice from 2010 to 2012. He replaces Justice Jorge Labarga, who remains on the Court.
Frank Brogan Former Florida Lieutenant Governor and Education Commissioner Frank Brogan has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education for the U.S. Department of Education. Brogan was nominated by President Donald Trump in December for the post.
New College of Florida Appointed the College’s first associate vice president for administration was Kristie Harris. Harris previously served as director of university budgets for the State University System of Florida.
