Some bills we are following this Session:
FRACKING Bills that would prohibit certain fracking techniques have once again been filed for the Legislature’s consideration. The bills would prohibit “high-pressure well stimulation” and “matrix acidization” for petroleum wells.
STATE WORKER RAISES Democratic legislators have filed several bills this session making a salary raise for state workers a top priority. State employees have received only one raise since 2006.
HALLOWEEN HOLIDAY Parents and students around the state would celebrate if a bill passed that adds a school holiday to the calendar. The day after Halloween would mean a day out of school, unless the holiday falls on a Friday or Saturday.
PURPLE HEART MEMORIAL HIGHWAY If this legislation is adopted, the entire section of Interstate 95 from Nassau County to Miami-Dade County would be designated the Purple Heart Memorial Highway. All of U.S. Highway 27 has a Purple Heart transportation designation. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy.
