CHARGE WHILE DRIVING The Central Florida Expressway Authority will be constructing a new toll road connecting US 27 to Interstate 4. This road will feature a four mile stretch where dynamic-wireless vehicle charging technology will allow for vehicle batteries to be charged as they move along the road. This project will test the technology’s scalability as they look towards the future.
HAITI EVACUATIONS Following political unrest and violence in Haiti, Florida safely evacuated over 200 American citizens from the small country on March 20th. To date, over 400 US citizens have been evacuated, most of them Floridians. The Florida Division of Emergency Management has launched a portal to collect information from Americans who may be trapped in Haiti. Governor DeSantis increased the number of law enforcement officers and National Guardsmen and women in the Florida Keys to boost state efforts to address the anticipated influx of migrants from Haiti because of the turmoil. Separately, U.S. Representative Cory Mills flew an additional 23 Floridians out of Haiti over the March 23-24 weekend.
