STATE LEGISLATURE In the Florida Senate, all of the even number districts are up for election this fall.  Eight incumbent Senators ran unopposed and will be returning to Tallahassee. One race will be decided in the primary election Tuesday, August 26th, and the remaining eleven contested races will be decided on November 4th.

In the State House, all one hundred twenty seats are up for election.  Thirty-nine unopposed candidates retained their seats and fifteen House seats are up for grabs as those retiring members were limited to serving two terms. Six races will be determined during the primary and the remaining seats will be decided in the general election.

Congratulations to the members of the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives who retained their seat, having no opposition for this year’s election!

GOVERNOR’S RACE   Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist chose Annette Taddeo as his running mate. A native of Colombia, Taddeo served as Chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party and was the Democratic nominee for Congressional District 18 in 2008. She is a small business owner who lives in Pinecrest with her family. Also joining Crist’s team is Rick Minor who previously served as the Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Tallahassee. He is Crist’s policy director.

Former Governor Jeb Bush lent his support to Governor Rick Scott on the campaign trail  last week for an event in Homestead.
