Appointments by Governor DeSantis:
Board of Governors The state university system’s Board of Governors has confirmed the reappointments of the president of three schools: Florida Atlantic President John Kelly, Florida Polytechnic President Randy Avent and New College President Donal O’Shea. They will each extend their terms by a year. Florida International University President Mark Rosenberg and Florida State University president John Thrasher have been granted a contract extension by their respective university board trustees. The state university system’s Board of Governors will need to approve the extensions. They next meet on July 21st.
Miami Dade College District Board of Trustees Appointed was Roberto Alonso, Miami Lakes, vice president of business development at Costa Realtors Corp.
University of Florida Board of Trustees Reappointed was Rahul Patel, Atlanta, partner with King & Spalding LLP Rahul Pate. Appointed was Richard Cole, Miami, managing partner and lawyer with the law firm of Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A.
