Movers and Shakers

University of Central Florida  Appointed interim president was Dr. Thad Seymour, Jr. He replaces Dr. Dale Whittaker, who resigned in February. Seymour had been serving as vice president for partnerships and chief innovation officer, working closely with the downtown campus which is slated to open this fall.   He has a bachelor of arts degree from Dartmouth College, a master of arts and doctorate from the University of Wisconsin and a master of business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

University of South Florida Appointed president was Dr. Steven Currall. Curral was chosen by the USF Board of Trustees on March 22nd and will replace current president Judy Genshaft, who will step down on July 1st. Currall is currently provost and vice president for academic affairs at Southern Methodist University and has a Ph.D. from Cornell University, a master’s degree in social psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Baylor University. He is a psychological scientist who has been doing research and teaching for nearly three decades.

Governor DeSantis Appointments:

Board of Governors of the State University System Appointed were Brian Lamb, Tampa, head of wealth and asset management at Fifth Third Bank; Steven Scott, M.D., Palm Beach, chairman of Scott Holdings, LLC; Eric Silagy, Palm Beach Gardens, president and CEO of Florida Power and Light Company and a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Chamber of Commerce; Kent Stermon, Jacksonville, COO of Total Military Management.

Central Florida Expressway Authority Reappointed was Jay Madara, Windermere, chief financial officer of the Golf Channel. Madara has served on the board of the Central Florida Expressway Authority since 2014 and was elected chairman in 2019. Additionally, Madara is a member of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Board in Orlando.
