Farm Service Agency and Rural Development Appointed by President Trump as state director was State Representative Neil Combee (R-Auburndale). Combee resigned from the Legislature in late November to take this federal position.
Corrine Brown Former Democratic U.S. Representative Corrine Brown was sentenced to five years in prison by a U.S. District court judge in Jacksonville on December 4th. She was found guilty of fraud and other crimes related to personal use of funds intended for a charity benefiting poor students. She intends to appeal.
Dwayne Taylor Former State Representative Dwayne Taylor (D-Daytona Beach) will serve 13 months in a federal prison for nine counts of wire fraud relating to using campaign money for his personal use.
Jack Latvala Senator Jack Latvala (R-Clearwater) tendered his resignation to Senate President Joe Negron on December 20th. Latvala served in the Senate from 1994-2000 and then again from 2000 to 2017. He is currently a Republican candidate for Governor.
Jeff Clemens State Senator Jeff Clemens (D-Lake Worth) resigned his legislative seat in October after admitting he had an affair with a lobbyist.
Kim Daniels Representative Kim Daniels (D-Jacksonville) reached a settlement with the Florida Elections Commission. The Commission found probable cause that Daniels filed inaccurate financial disclosure forms during the years 2012, 2013 and 2014. She will pay a $1,000 fine.
Florida Democratic Party The FLDEMS chairman Stephen Bittel resigned November 17th after several women came forward saying he made demeaning remarks toward them and created an unprofessional workplace environment for women. Replacing Bittel as the chair is Terri Rizzo, chairwoman of the Palm Beach County Democrats.
Agency for State Technology Named chief data officer for the Agency for State Technology was Nancy Sampson. Sampson is the first person to hold this position and was previously the information technology services director for the Department of Financial Services.
