Florida Gulf Coast University Named president was Dr. Aysegul Timur, the fifth president and first woman to lead the university. A native of Turkey, she will replace Dr. Michael Martin, who was selected in July, 2017.
Florida Supreme Court The Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission has picked finalists to replace former Justice Ricky Polston. The finalists are Chief Judge Meredith Sasso, Sixth District Court of Appeal; Judge John Stargel, Second District Court of Appeal; Judge Thomas Palermo, Hillsborough County Circuit Court; Judge Joshua Mize, Sixth District Court of Appeal; Judge Jared Smith, Sixth District Court of Appeal; and Chief Judge Michael McHugh, 20th Judicial Circuit. Governor DeSantis will make his appointment from this list.
