ANDREW’S RESTAURANT Tallahassee’s iconic Andrew’s Downtown restaurant located by the State Capitol will be closing its doors, moving to a yet to be determined new location. Opened by Andy Reiss in 1972 as a deli, Andrew’s has been known by many names: Brass Rail, Andrew’s 2nd Act, Maxin’s, Tutto Bene, Andrew’s Upstairs, Andrew’s Capital Grill and Bar, Andrew’s 228 and Andrew’s Downtown. Loved by lobbyists and legislators alike, the menu featured items named for local and state politicians. 

NEW ORANGE TREE The University of Florida is cautiously optimistic that a newly discovered orange tree could offer citrus growers a reprieve from citrus greening. The Donaldson tree was discovered in Groveland and appears to be immune to the effects of citrus greening.

DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAY SAFETY The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles experienced a state-wide outage on May 8th for less than two days that prevented new car registration and driver’s license and ID card applications.
