The Florida Legislature completed its 2023 Session on Friday, May 5th at 11am. It was the first time in many years that the Legislature completed session “on time”. A total of 1,679 general bills and 42 local bills were filed this Session. Only 320 general bills and 28 local bills passed both chambers. Of course, the General Appropriations Act, the only required duty of the Legislature, was part of this year’s legislative accomplishments.

The Legislature proposed, through unanimous votes, a record budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 totaling $117,026,747,547. The budget will be sent to the Governor for review where he will likely line-item veto some spending. The breakdown by budget section dollars is as follows.
