DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION Governor Scott has selected Jim Boxold as the new Secretary of the FDOT. Secretary Ananth Prasad announced his resignation, effective January 2nd, on December 2nd. Boxold served as Prasad’s chief of staff for the past 18 months.

DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater appointed Michelle Dahnke as Deputy CFO of the Department of Financial Services. Dahnke previously served as Deputy Communications Director for Governor Scott.

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH  Patricia Nelson has been named director of the Office of Compassionate Use, the state office created to carry out a new medical-marijuana law.  Nelson previously worked as rules ombudsman and deputy director of the state’s Office of Fiscal Accountability and Regulatory Reform.

NEW UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA PRESIDENT On October 15th, the UF Board of Trustees chose Cornell University Provost Kent Fuchs to become their next president. President Bernie Machen announced earlier this year that he would retire at the end of December. Fuchs will be the University’s 12th president since its founding in 1906.

TAMPA-HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY EXPRESSWAY Governor Scott appointed John Garcia, President and CEO of World Wide Medical Services in Tampa, to the Authority on November 26th. He is replacing Stephen Diaco.

CENTRAL FLORIDA EXPRESSWAY Governor Scott appointed two Windermere residents to the Central Florida Expressway Authority. Jay Madara, Chief Financial Officer of the Golf Channel, and Shawn “Michael” Scheeringa, CEO of BBA Aviation Flight Support, will each serve on the Authority for four years.

GREATER ORLANDO AVIATION AUTHORITY Former Disney Destinations Senior Vice President Julian “Ed” Fouche has been appointed by Governor Scott to the Board of GOAA.
