Danny Burgess Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs executive director Danny Burgess submitted his resignation as secretary, effective June 18th. Burgess is now running to fill Senator Tom Lee’s senate seat. Burgess, a former Zephyrhills mayor, served as a Republican in the Florida House from 2014 until his appointment to lead the Department of Veterans’ Affairs in 2018.
