Florida Department of Management Services Named deputy secretary of business operations was Patrick Gillespie. Gillespie previously worked as an account manager at CoreMessage Inc. and as press secretary at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Florida Veterans Foundation Appointed chairman was retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Bob Asztalos, Tallahassee. Appointed by executive director Danny Burgess, Asztalos is chief lobbyist for the Florida Health Care Association. Former Chairman Mike Mason has been named chairman emeritus.
Florida Virtual School Appointed executive director of the Florida Virtual School was Louis Algaze. During the 2019 session, the Legislature turned management of the school over to the Board of Education. Algaze was unanimously approved by the State Board of Education and replaces Robert Porter, who died in March.
Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida Dr. Ed Moore is retiring as president of the association after 16 years. ICUF general counsel Robert Boyd will replace Moore on September 1st.
