Governor Rick Scott Appointments:
Board of County Commissioners of Putnam County Appointed was Terry Turner, San Mateo, President and Owner of Armstrong Roofing, Inc, and Armstrong Contracting Services, Inc. Turner also serves as a member on the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.
Board of Pharmacy Appointed was Blanca Rivera, Miami, executive director of pharmacy at the University of Miami Health System.
Chipola College District Board of Trustees Appointed was James “Jim” Dean, Marianna, city manager of Marianna.
Clay County Development Authority Appointed were Keith R. Ward, Orange Park, president of Thomas May Construction Company; Bruce Butler, Jr., Green Cove Springs, Federal Law Enforcement Officer; Tom Morris, Middleburg, executive director of Clay County Utility Authority; and Amy Pope Wells, Green Cove Springs, owner of Link Staffing Services and president of Tire Diva, Inc.
Daytona State College District Board of Trustees Reappointed were Bob Davis, Port Orange, president of the Halifax Lodging & Hospitality Association; and Mary Ann Haas, Flagler Beach, retired district curriculum director of the Flagler County School District.
Florida Division of Emergency Management Appointed interim director was Wes Maul, previously Chief of Staff at the Division of Emergency Management (DEM). He replaces Bryan Koon who resigned effective October 1st. Koon served as the director of DEM since 2011.
Florida Southwestern State College District Board of Trustees Appointed was Bruce Laishley, Punta Gorda, co-owner of Smuggler’s Enterprises, Inc.; CEO of Florida Premier Contractors, LLC; and the co-owner of Southwest Land Developers, Inc.
Florida Women’s Hall of Fame Three have been inducted to the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame. They are:
Mary Lou Baker (1915-1965). Formerly of Pinellas County, Baker was the second woman elected to the Florida House of Representatives. During her tenure in the House, she authored the Women’s Emancipation Bill which allowed women to conduct business while their husbands served in WWII. She was also a supporter of co-education and helped pave the way for women to be admitted to the University of Florida and supported Florida State University becoming co-educational.
Kathleen “Kitty” Robertson Culp (1921-2013). Formerly of Satellite Beach, Culp was one of the first women to enlist in the U.S. Navy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, becoming the first woman in the armed forces to make a pre-mediated, free-fall parachute jump in 1944.
Katherine Fernandez Rundle, Miami-Dade County. In 1993, Rundle was elected the first female Hispanic State Attorney in Florida, a position she still holds today. In 1997 she was the first and only Hispanic member of the Florida Constitution Revision Commission by then-Governor Lawton Chiles.
