Agency for Health Care Administration Stuart “Stu” Williams resigned as general counsel of AHCA, a position he held for over five years. Williams is moving to Liberty Dental Plan of California to serve as vice president for corporate development.  Bill Roberts, who has been serving as AHCA’s deputy general counsel, will serve as interim general counsel.

Department of Financial Services Appointed deputy CFO by CFO Jimmy Patronis was Elizabeth Boyd. She had served as legislative affairs director for the Florida Department of Financial Services since 2011.

Enterprise Florida  Joe Hice will be leaving his position as the head of marketing for Enterprise Florida, a position he has held since October, 2015.

Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council  Appointed were Rabbi Yosef Weinstock,  Fort Lauderdale, Senior Rabbi at Young Israel of Hollywood-Fort Lauderdale and Rabbi Pinchas Taylor, Plantation, a Rabbi at the Chabad of Plantation and a Chaplain for hospice organizations.

Florida Highway Patrol Chief Troy Thompson has been appointed deputy director of FHP by Director Colonel Gene Spaulding.  Thompson is a 24-year law enforcement veteran who has most recently served as the chief of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement with the FHP.

Florida Municipal Power Agency Jody Lamar Finklea was selected by the FMPA Board as general counsel and chief legal officer.  Finklea has been with FMPA since 2001 and served as deputy general counsel under retiring General Counsel Fred Bryant.

Florida Ports Council  Steven Cernak is the new Chief Executive/Port Director Elected Chairman of Florida  for Port Everglades. He replaces Phillip C. Allen who retired after serving as Port Director for 11 years.

Former Representative Erik Fresen Former State Representative Erik Fresen (R-Miami) was sentenced to 60 days of jail time after pleading guilty for failing to submit a 2011 income tax return, having not filed any returns for 8 years. The sentence will be carried out for 15 days a month for four months, starting November 15th. Fresen was initially charged for failing to file returns during the eight years he served in the Florida House of Representatives.

Justin Sayfie Publisher of the Sayfie Review for the past 15 years, Justin Sayfie, will join Ballard Partners’ Washington, D.C. office. He has been with the Ballard firm since 2015.

Seminole State College Ann McGee will step down next July as president of the college, a position she has held since 1996. Seminole State is the ninth largest of the 28 institutions in the Florida College System.

State University System The State University System’s Board of Governors approved a one-year extension of the contract for chancellor Marshall Criser.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Trey Glenn with be the Environmental Protection Agency’s new regional administrator in the Southeast. Glenn is the former head of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.

United Nations Representative Carlos Trujillo (R-Doral) has been nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the U.S. representative to the General Assembly of the United Nations. Other nominees include United States Representatives Christopher Smith of New Jersey, Barbara Lee of California, and Lloyd Claycomb of Arizona. If confirmed, they would each serve as one of United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley’s four deputies. Trujillo has said that if he is confirmed by the U.S. Senate for the position, he will not resign his seat in the Florida Legislature.
