Governor Scott appointments:

 Executive Office of the Governor McKinley Lewis will serve as Governor Scott’s deputy communications director. McKinley previously served as spokesperson for the Florida Department of Corrections. He replaces John Tupps.

Florida Department of Health Dr. Celeste Philip has been named surgeon general. Philip was named acting surgeon general since March, when Dr. John Armstrong left the Department after the Florida Senate refused to confirm him for the position. Philip’s appointment is effective immediately, but she must be confirmed by the Florida Senate during the next legislative session in order to permanently keep the position.

State Emergency Response Commission Appointed were Taylor Abel, Tampa, a senior manager of environmental health and safety with Mosaic; Harvey Jones, Tallahassee, an operations review specialist with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement; and Kevin Peters, Tallahassee, the emergency management director for the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management.

Environmental Regulation Commission Appointed to the Commission is Craig Varn, an attorney with Manson Bolves Donaldson Varn. Varn previously served as the general counsel at the Department of Environmental Protection.

Family Care Councils On May 19th, sixteen appointments and five reappointments were made to the Family Care Councils. A list of appointees may be found here.

Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis was appointed Supervisor of Elections following the resignation of Ann McFall. Lewis currently serves as the Deputy Supervisor of Elections for Volusia County.
