Department of Financial Services Walter Graham has been appointed by Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater as director of the newly established Division of Unclaimed Property.
Florida Department of Health Dr. John Curran, a pediatrician and senior administrator and faculty member at the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine, was appointed deputy secretary of DOH. Curran will oversee the department’s Children’s Medical Services network. Curran has worked with Children’s Medical Services since 1974 and been CMS medical director for the Tampa Bay Region since 1986.
Department of Legal Affairs Chief deputy attorney general and chief of staff Tyler Cathey is leaving Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office for a job in Tampa. Deputy Attorney General Trish Conners is acting chief deputy and General Counsel Kent Perez is acting chief of staff.
Florida Office of Insurance Regulation David Altmaier was named Insurance Commissioner on April 29th by the Florida Cabinet. Altmaier replaces outgoing Commissioner Kevin McCarty, who held the job since 2003.
Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission John Tupps has been appointed deputy chief of staff of the FWC. He previously served as Governor Scott’s deputy communications director.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement On April 19th, agents with FDLE arrested Michael Dale Lindblade, a state corrections officer, on charges of official misconduct, unlawful compensation and removal of contraband. Investigators say Lindblade had been purchasing cigarettes, synthetic marijuana and cell phones, then selling them to inmates at the Suwannee Correctional Institute, where he worked.
