Legislative Update

With a Republican supermajority in both chambers (28-12 in the Senate and 85-35 in the House), the priorities of the 2023 Session will take on added dimensions as bills and appropriation requests are filed by members in the coming weeks. To date, 64 bills have been filed. In a break with past rules, the House appropriations projects are not required to have bill numbers.

The interim committee week schedule includes three weeks in January and three weeks in February, with the first week coinciding with the Governor and Lieutenant Governor inaugurations.
