LOTTERY Legislation has been filed to prohibit the use of personal electronic devices to play, store, redeem, sell, or purchase lottery tickets or games. It also requires a warning be printed on the back of all lottery tickets about the dangers of gambling.

LEGISLATIVE EMPLOYEE PAY RAISE This bill by Senator Annette Taddeo (D-Miami) provides for a one-time pay raise for employees of the Florida Legislature.

DISCRIMINATION Several bills have been filed addressing discrimination due to sexual orientation and gender identity. The “Florida Inclusive Workforce Act” by Senator Joe Gruters (R-Sarasota; current Chair of the Republican Party of Florida)) would end discrimination in the workplace. Meanwhile, the “Florida Competitive Workforce Act,” sponsored by Representative Jennifer Webb (D-St. Petersburg) and Senator Darryl Rouson (D-St. Petersburg) would outlaw housing and employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. Similar bills have been filed over the last decade.

WINDSHIELD INSURANCE COVERAGE This bill would prevent auto-glass shops from offering cash, gift cards and other incentives to motorists to attract windshield-repair work.

PROSECUTION TIME LIMITATION Senator Linda Stewart (D-Orlando) and Representative Anna Eskamani (D-Orlando) have filed bills to eliminate the statute of limitations on the prosecution of sexual batteries when victims are under the age of 18.

SANCTUARY CITIES Senator Gruters wants to ensure that state and local entities and law enforcement agencies cooperate with federal government officials to enforce immigration laws, effectively prohibiting sanctuary cities.
