IMMIGRATION PAROLE After President Joe Biden announced a program that would offer opportunities for Cubans, Haitians, Venezuelans and Nicaraguans to enter the U.S. legally, 20 states filed suit challenging the program. The states claim the program is executive overreach. In response, the Biden administration has challenged the choice of a Texas federal court as the place of filing. They claim the states are “court shopping”.

SOCIAL MEDIA LAW After a U.S. Appeals Court ruled against Florida’s attempt to crack down on social media companies, the State appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. While the Court has not decided whether to take the case, they recently asked the U.S inspector general to file briefs on the government’s position. The Florida law targets companies which remove politicians from their platforms.

TRANSGENDER BATHROOM BAN The full Eleventh Circuit upheld a Florida school board’s policy requiring transgender students to use bathrooms that correspond to their assigned gender at birth, reversing decisions from a district court and two appellate panels that found the rule unconstitutional.
