GOVERNOR SUES FEDS The Governor has filed suit against the United States Department of Health & Human Services, among others, in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Florida. The suit alleges the federal government is illegally coercing the State of Florida to implement the expansion of Medicaid by not funding the Low Income Pool. 


CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FOR JUDGES In a case originating in Hillsborough County, the United States Supreme Court ruled that states are within their rights to restrict judicial candidates from directly soliciting campaign contributions. The decision was on a 5-4 vote.


PETITION BALLOT MEASURE A potential 2016 ballot petition has been sent to the Florida Supreme Court by Attorney General Pam Bondi to determine if the measure meets legal initiative requirements. The proposed amendment would allow citizen producers of solar energy to directly sell power to other consumers.
