Joe Kittinger

Joe Kittinger Joseph William Kittinger died on December 9th at the age of 94. A former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who was captured during the Vietnam War, he retired as a Colonel in 1978 and was granted over 40 awards during his career. Kittinger held the world record for the highest skydive from 1960 to 2012, diving from a height of 102,800 feet. In addition to his skydiving, he was known as being the first individual to cross the Atlantic in a hot air balloon. This Central Florida icon will be missed.
