PRIMARY ELECTION Florida held its presidential preference primary election on Tuesday, March 17th. Former Vice President Joe Biden took the delegates for the Democratic Party and President Donald Trump for the Republican Party.

ETHICS The House Public Integrity & Ethics Committee has been conducting hearings regarding the operations and pay structure of the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Five members of the group were subpoenaed by the Committee to provide testimony regarding the compensation of former CEO Tiffany Carr. Carr herself, who now lives in North Carolina, has been avoiding subpoena servers and has yet to testify. The Committee’s attorney has forwarded evidence to the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida for review and possible charges.

HURRICANE UPDATE Volunteer Florida Foundation announced that additional Florida Disaster Fund grant funding is available for organizations recovering from Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Michael. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 27th. More than $2.2 million was made available for Gadsden County through the Hurricane Michael State Recovery Grant Program to repair two crucial bridges. Seven organizations have received more than $14 million through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program. They are: CareerSource Brevard; The College of the Florida Keys; Florida International University; Florida State College at Jacksonville; Hendry County School; Indian River State College; and Valencia College.
