Dog Days of Summer

With the dog days of summer upon us, parts of Florida have experienced temperatures close to 100 degrees. Florida covers six degrees of latitude lending a six degree difference in temperature between Key West and Jacksonville. As the second warmest state in the nation, Floridians know heat. The year 1998 marked the state’s hottest summer with Melbourne breaking 21 daily high temperature records in June of that year.
